Abeam Tech Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information used by Please Cite Me! (the “Service”) as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: your Clerk user ID, email address, and information provided through authentication
- Billing data: Stripe customer, subscription, and price identifiers; subscription status; declared billing country; billing interval; and transaction data needed for billing and tax review. Stripe or Link may collect contact details, a billing address, and payment information directly at checkout. We do not save card details or the full billing address in our database.
- Audit data: submitted URLs, page titles, short content previews and evidence excerpts, structure and metadata, scores, analysis results, timestamps, and saved markers
- Usage and technical data: display language, cookies, usage counts, processing state, errors, and request data needed for security and abuse prevention
- Support messages and contact details
2. Card information
Stripe processes card numbers and security codes directly. We do not store card details on our servers.
3. How we use information
- Authenticate users, provide the Service, and save and display audit history
- Analyze article content with AI and generate recommendations
- Manage subscriptions, payment, tax, invoices, and cancellation
- Apply fair-use controls, prevent fraud, and protect the Service
- Provide support, fix problems, and improve reliability
- Keep records required by law and protect legal rights
4. URLs and page content
Our server retrieves the public webpage at a URL you submit. We do not retain the fetched HTML itself or the full extracted body as part of your audit history. We save the submitted URL, page title, selected structure and metadata, technical findings and scores, a short content preview, and excerpts used as evidence in the report.
For Pro content analysis, we send the OpenAI API the target URL, analysis date, detected language and page type, extraction metrics, title, description, headings, author, publication and modification dates, extracted body text up to the processing limit, and the display text and URL of external links. We do not include the fetched HTML itself, your Clerk user ID, email address, or billing and payment information in the OpenAI analysis input. The analysis returned by OpenAI, including source excerpts used as evidence, is saved in your audit history.
We disable optional response storage in the API request. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models unless the account explicitly opts in. Under standard settings without Zero Data Retention or a similar control, abuse-monitoring logs that may contain submitted content can be retained under OpenAI's policy, generally for up to 30 days.
5. Cookies and local preferences
We use cookies required for authentication, security, and saving your display language. Disabling cookies may prevent sign-in and other parts of the Service from working.
6. Service providers
- Clerk for registration, authentication, and session management
- Turso for account, audit, and subscription records
- OpenAI for Pro content analysis
- Stripe and Link for payments, subscriptions, invoices, tax processing, and fraud controls. For eligible non-Japan transactions processed through Stripe Managed Payments, Link acts as merchant of record at checkout, directly processes contact, billing-address, and payment information, and provides transaction-level support.

7. Sharing and international processing
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only to the service providers needed to operate the Service, with your consent, as required by law, or when necessary to protect life, safety, property, or legal rights. Information may be processed or stored outside your country when these providers operate internationally. We review relevant contractual and published security information and seek to provide appropriate oversight. On request, we will provide available details about processing regions and safeguards without undue delay, except where disclosure could undermine security or is otherwise restricted by law.
8. Retention
Account and audit history are generally retained while needed to provide and manage the Service. When you delete your account, access ends immediately and the ordinary service data in our database—including the account record, audit history, saved AI results, usage counts, and subscription-status snapshot—is deleted and cannot be restored. We or our providers, including Clerk, Stripe, and Link, may retain only limited transaction or audit records needed for legal retention, payment, fraud prevention, security, dispute handling, or protection of legal rights, and only for the applicable period.
9. Security
We use safeguards appropriate to the scale of the Service and the information handled, including encrypted transport, authentication, access control, separation of secrets from public configuration, request limits, and review of service providers. Additional details are available on request to the extent disclosure does not undermine security. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
10. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request notice of purpose, access, correction, completion, deletion, restriction, erasure, or suspension of third-party disclosure. Email the contact address with the account email, the type of request, and the information concerned. We generally verify identity through the registered email address or another reasonable method. We do not ordinarily charge a request fee.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the Service or applicable law changes. We will give notice of material revisions on this page or through another appropriate method.
